Cash Projects, Financial Goals and Tool needed for 2005
Rob Cahill

Counting the costs: the chart below spells out exactly what the financial goals and cash projects have been set for the year 2005. We believe that these goals are reachable, yet not without effort and sacrifice. The most urgently needed of the financial goals listed below are the student scholarships.

Student Scholarships 137 19 118
Agro-ecology Program $8,325.00 $5,050.00 $3,275.00
Vocational Arts $4,560.00 $0.00 $4,560.00
Women’s Dormitory $116,000.00 $76,000.00 $40,000.00
Computer Lab $3,250.00 $325.00 $2,925.00
Sports Program $1,000.00 $0.00 $1,000.00
Bibles / hymnals fund $1,100.00 $0.00 $1,000.00

Regional Goals: One method of setting specific goals for student support scholarships is to to think regionally. How many student support scholarships can we count on for each region. Finding 137 individuals and groups to donate a student scholarship is a big challenge.

Lancaster and Franklin Co., PA: Goal: 42 student support scholarships, plus 50% funding for Agro-ecology program.

Homes and Wayne Co., OH: Goal: 40 student support scholarships plus funding of vocational arts program.

Elkhart Co., IN: Goal: 40 student support scholarships plus funding for computer lab and library fund.

Canada: Goal 5 student support scholarships, plus 50% funding for Agro-ecology program.

Midwest: Goal 5 student support scholarships, plus 50% funding for Sports program.

West: Goal 5 student support scholarships, plus 50% funding for Sports program.

Students receive more than an education, more than a formation, they receive a transformational education.

Women's Dormitory Project: This project will require WAL teams, donations (in kind and in cash), tools, creativity and most importantly lots of dedication. Zach Wolgemuth has begun preparations for ground breaking. For 2005, Mennonite Central Committee is facilitating six Work and Learn Teams. These have already been scheduled. Monetary donations are still needed (approx. $40,000). Donations of tools would be very helpful as well.

Tool Donation Wish List: sometimes Work and Learn Teams ask what tools they can bring for Bezaleel. Here is a list of tools that are needed for the construction project. In the second column of the chart appears the quantity needed. In the third column the priority of the item. The more stars, the more urgently needed. This list represents tools that are needed to be donated to Bezaleel (i.e. "for keeps")

What Tools Should I bring for the job: At times WAL team participants bring their own tools for specific tasks. Sometimes people prefer to work with their own tools and sometimes tools are not available here, either not in the number of tools needed, nor in the quality of the tools that are needed. A list of these tools will change from team to team and from time to time as tasks change. It is a good idea to contact the on site construction coordinator to ask about what tools would be useful. Contact Zach Wolgemuth at: ZWolg@hotmail.com One month before your WAL team arrives Zach will have a good idea what tools are needed. (These tools are "not for keeps")
