The K'ekchi' Mennonite Church (INEMGUA) was formed in 1972 and presently consists of 87 churches divided into six geographic regions. The church then created, in 1997, the K'ekchi' Mennonite Foundation (FUNDAMENO) to administer and strengthen three development programs, one of which is Bezaleel.

The goal of Bezaleel is to provide a transformational, holistic, bilingual education for K'ekchi' youth. Valueing and giving dignity to K'ekchi' history and culture empowers students, forming future leaders for the development and betterment of K'ekchi' communities and churches.
